    Email Client Authentication screen shots

Typically it is assumed that the mail server is NOT sending emails. Please, lets at least take a step to verify that there is no server issue. This is a very easy first step. Go to the mail domain first http://mail.your_domain_name.com then logon with the full email address. user@your_domain_name.com and password. Send a bit of mail to some external address. Collect that email and then you know without a doubt that the mail server is sending mail.

90% of all our email support is related to clients calling with the issue of authentication using their mail client. We can spend allot of time telling you to do exactly what is in the screen shots below. Please help us to reduce support calls by at least verifying the mail server in a browser first. If there is a mail server problem we do want to know about this at once. But if the problem is one of the client software configuration then there are enough screen shots to help you resolve this quickly.  If you have followed the steps below and it still refuses to send. Try deleting the account in Outlook or Outlook express first, then recreate it following the settings in the screen shots. Also closing the program and reopening it can resolve these problems. Lastly if these do not resolve the problem then your provider may have installed a mail gateway.  You would then need to mention an alternate port 366 in the authentication process as outlined below. Check with our support to know if the mail server your account is on supports an alternate SMTP port.

  Outlook and SMTP Authentication
Normally, this is so easy that all one needs to do is simply review these shots yet many people seem to miss it. This is the accounts Dialog in outlook we need to go to more settings. Tick that button the window below will open. Please make sure the tick-box is unchecked for logon using secure password. "Flash Video"

  Outlook Outgoing SMTP server

All have to do here typically is tick the box circled in red. Though you can also re-enter your logon and password. Logon should ALWAYS be your complete email address.

NOTE: If your Connection provider or ISP has imposed a mail gateway which forces all communication through their gateway on their network you can click the advanced tab here and change the port from 25 which is the default to use port 366 on our network. This will allow you to avoid their mail gateway as you are no longer communicating on port 25.

 Outgoing server in Outlook Express

While this is much the same as outlook it is even easier. Properties then you will see servers tab. Just tick the box "My Server Requires Authentication".

  Outlook express

Again like in outlook you can chose here to simply us the same settings you are using for connecting through pop3. Though you can chose re-enter them it really makes no difference.

Also this the dialog that appears if you have clicked the settings button on the previous dialog. "Flash Video"

 Outlook Express on a MAC
These settings like all mail clients are really the same functions even if the GUI might look a little different.

Click on the large button that says click here for advanced sending options.

Outlook Express on MAC shot two

In the previous dialog we clicked the advanced settings options and spawned this dialog.

You will see you can either use the same settings as Pop3 or also re-enter the logon and password again.

Also you will note that you too can set the port to use a different port as outlined about which is 366 if your provider has imposed a gateway.

  OS-X MAC Mail Client

This too is very straight forward though it seems to frustrate many MAC users.

Click options then fill out the logon and password follow the screen shot and it will work. And again we have the same option to set the outbound port to 366 if your provider has put in a mail gateway and is forcing you down their port 25.

  Netscape 7.2

Again we are given just a different GUI and this seems to overwhelm many users who are unfamiliar with what they are actually doing. Really when you understand that you must send your logon and password back to the server in order to send all you are really looking for is a means of doing this.

Also again note that I have set this dialog to use port 366 as the same example of getting around a gateway imposed by your connection provider controlling access on port 25.
